Introduction:
In the field of machining, many automated production lines and equipment require efficient and reliable cutting tools for precise machining. With the change of machining materials, the technology of tool machining also needs to be continuously improved and innovated.
Today, we will share a case study of machining optimization for an automotive oil pump product, to see how the customer's on-site machining optimization is carried out under the tool management mode of Novartis. We also hope to provide some useful experience and ideas for machining technicians.
01. Description of workpiece condition
As one of the mass-produced products for customers, a certain car oil pump has high difficulty in on-site processing, mainly because the processing material is stainless steel, and the cutting holes are mostly in the shape of short steps and are intersecting holes. During the processing, the cutting tool will be subjected to huge impact force, resulting in varying degrees of damage to the cutting edge.

These workpiece conditions make the machining process more complex, requiring more reasonable tool design and improvement to ensure cutting efficiency, quality, and stability.
02. Nuoer provides technical services
Nuoer analyzed the machining status of this gasoline pump product for machining technology engineers, including tool selection, machining parameters, etc. In response to the above situation, optimization solutions were provided from the following three aspects:
Firstly, more targeted design of the tool structure should be carried out based on specific parts, by adding a circular arc R angle to the tool tip to reduce the degree of wear and ensure the wear resistance of the tool;

Secondly, based on consultation with the customer, the angle of the workpiece process drawing was modified, and the 90 ° easily worn step was changed to a long edge of 130 °, which strengthened the anti collapse resistance of the cutting edge;

Finally, some improvement measures were proposed, mainly including improving the tool design form to enhance the impact resistance of the tool and the rigidity of the cutting edge, while making protective chamfers and corrections on the front cutting surface of the tool.
03. Presentation of optimization results
After implementing and following up on these optimization plans, the tool's lifespan was ultimately doubled and stabilized!
In this technical service process, we can see that the original cutting tools are difficult to adapt to the needs of customer product processing, and many problems have occurred during the processing. By improving and optimizing the cutting tools, Nuo Erwei not only successfully solved these problems and improved the machining quality, but also extended the service life of the tools.
As a result, the consumption of cutting tools has been reduced, and the tool change time has been effectively reduced, which has improved the overall processing efficiency of the product and better met the actual needs of customers!
Innovation, improvement, and optimization are important factors driving rapid progress in the machining industry. Nuoer provides technical services by understanding the characteristics and processing requirements of workpieces, combined with production processes and equipment, to provide more possibilities and directions for the improvement and optimization of cutting tools.
